A alguien le escuché decir que la composición en latín de la palabra "amor" viene de "a" (sin) y "mor" (por "muerte").
Amor sería entonces "sin muerte".
Dado el lugar y quien lo dijo tengo "hartas dudas" de la veracidad de esa composición. Si bien tengo entendido por otro que me merece confianza, que en latín muchas palabras resultaban de este tipo de composición.
Recién quise semblantear un poco el tema por Internet, pero hay de las dos versiones (que no es así, y que es así), asi que lo dejé ahí.
Igualmente puede estar lindo ponerse a inventar etimologías, si se aclara en algún momento que es juego (como cuando jugábamos al diccionario, ¡morapio!, ¡balalaika!).
Si tenés el Corominas, te podrías fijar a ver qué dice.

Yo creo que es inverbalizable, inexplicable, indescriptible y por tal tiene el valor que tiene.

Maybe it´s blindness, but the essential is invisible, and that is what "love" can see.
Puede ser que sea ciego, pero lo esencial es invisible a los ojos, y eso el lo que el amor puede ver.
